A 37-year-old Maine man has been arrested for failure to appear in court to be sentenced for manslaughter.
Albert Deschaine of Peru was convicted in 2024 for a fatal crash in Auburn that killed another man.
Police say Deschaine was driving a pickup truck on Route 4 that hydroplaned, crossed the center line, and hit another pickup truck in October of 2024.
Deschaine was injured in the crash, while the driver of the other truck died from his injuries after being taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Deschaine was subsequently convicted of manslaughter, reckless conduct, and operation of a defective vehicle in connection with the crash.
A warrant was issued for Deschaine’s arrest after he failed to appear in Androscoggin County Court for sentencing.
The U.S. Marshals Service announced that Deschaine was arrested by a task force on Wednesday in a camper on a property in the town of Phillips.
He was taken into custody without incident.
