A 35-year-old Portland man will serve seven years in prison for distributing and possessing child pornography.

Court records show Derren Wood-Peterson sent payment on Cash App for a link associated with child sexual abuse material.

A subsequent investigation and search warrant by the FBI turned up two cell phones containing thousands of images and videos of child sexual abuse material.

Prosecutors say that during an interview, Wood-Peterson admitted to accessing, viewing, and distributing child sexual abuse material over the internet.

Forensic analysis of his devices revealed multiple acts of distribution of this material over the Telegram Messenger application.

Wood-Peterson pleaded guilty to distributing and possessing child pornography in October 2025 and was sentenced this week in Federal Court in Portland by U.S. District Judge Stacey D. Neumann.

In addition to his prison sentence, Wood-Peterson received 10 years of supervised release. Judge Neumann also ordered Wood-Peterson to pay $56,500 in restitution to victims whose images he possessed.
