A 22-year-old New Hampshire man has been identified by police as the driver who left the scene after a crash injured a construction worker on I-95 in Pittsfield earlier this month.

Officers say it was Jonathan McDonald of Laconia, New Hampshire who was driving a pickup truck with a black dump trailer that hit a concrete Jersey barrier.

They say that hit caused a construction barrel to strike 56-year-old Richard Smart of Westfield, who was working in the construction zone.

Police say McDonald continued driving without stopping.

Smart was taken to Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

Police say McDonald has been issued a summons on the following charges:

Count I – §2252. Accidents involving death or personal injury (Class D)

Count II – §2413. Driving to endanger (Class E)

Count III – §2251. Accident reports (Class E)

The crash occurred at 8:17 am in the northbound construction zone near mile marker 150 in Pittsfield.
