Man Dead After Being Hit by Vehicle in Penobscot County

A man is dead after Penobscot County deputies say he was hit by a car on Route 221 in Bradford Tuesday afternoon.

The crash was reported to the Penobscot Regional Communications Center at approximately 12:40 p.m.

Deputies say their initial investigation shows the man was standing in the roadway when he was hit.

They say he was pronounced dead at the scene, despite life-saving efforts by first responders.

Deputies say no names are being released out of respect for the victim’s family, friends, and the community. There were also no details released about the driver of the car that hit the man, or whether they have any liability in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation, and no further information was released as of Tuesday night.
