Maine Weather to Warm Up with Fewer Rain Spells by Next Weekend

Maine has been stuck in a pattern of cool weather with highs only reaching the 50s, but AccuWeather meteorologist Joe Lundberg says that’ll be changing this next weekend.

“I think the second half of May will be decidedly warmer than the first half has been, and who knows, we may end up over the month with the temperatures on the high side of average,” said Lundberg. “It doesn’t seem conceivable considering how chilly it’s been, but I think that that’s the direction we’re going.”

Lundberg says a changing weather pattern will start allowing more west-northwest winds to blow warmer air into the region from the Midwest U.S.

He says we could reach the 70s for highs this next Saturday and Sunday in Portland, although it’ll remain in the 50s until then.

Lundberg also says the current pattern of rain every couple of days is now changing.

“I just don’t think that we’re going to have it every two or three days that we’re going to get a couple of days of rain,” Lundberg said. “I think there’ll be some stretches that might be from, perhaps even five days where it doesn’t rain or there’s no more than a shower during that four- or five-day stretch.”

Lundberg handles the weather updates on WGAN during the morning hours starting at 5 am weekdays.
