Maine Beer Co. Head Enters U.S. Senate Race as Democrat

Dan Kleban campaign

Another Democrat is throwing their hat in the ring to face off against Republican Senator Susan Collins in 2026.

Maine Beer Company owner Dan Kleban made his run for Senate official this morning, releasing a video announcing his campaign.

Kleban claims that after 30 years in the Senate, Senator Collins has stopped standing up for Mainers. “We’re living with the consequences,” said Kleban. “Housing is unaffordable, health care costs are climbing, and education costs are crushing families.”

Kleban joins a growing group of Democratic candidates running for Collins’ seat, including Oysterman Graham Platner who announced his campaign last week, and former chief of staff for Representative Katie Porter, Jordan Wood, joined the race in April.

Governor Janet Mills has said she is also considering joining the race, though she says she won’t make her decision until at least November.

Kleban is a former attorney who founded the Maine Beer Company brewery in 2009.

He says he plans to lean on his experience as a small business owner, where he provided employees with full health care coverage and retirement benefits.

This year’s song of the summer is a ballad, not a banger. Here’s what that says about us

For the past 14 weeks and counting, the top Billboard spot has been held by a love ballad: Alex Warren's "Ordinary." As Berklee College of Music professor and forensic musicologist Joe Bennett notes, the February release is "a fair bit slower than the mean average for the Hot 100, or for a historical song of the summer."
