Maine assistant attorney general charged with drunk driving

A Maine assistant attorney general was arrested in Wilton over the weekend and charged with operating under the influence.

Police responded to a report of a possible drunk driver on Weld Rd. Saturday around 7 p.m.

According to the Sun Journal, the vehicle was pulled over on Main Street.

The Franklin Couty Sheriff’s Office says the driver was identified as 35-year-old Paul Suitter of Portland.

He was taken to the Franklin County Detention Center, where he posted $200 bail and was released Sunday morning.

Suitter is an assistant attorney general for the state in the Litigation Division.

He’s scheduled to appear in court in October.
