1 Dead, 2 Injured from Sunday PM Crash in Winthrop

A 28-year-old man is dead, and two others are injured after a crash in Winthrop Sunday.

Police say two pickup trucks hit each other on Route 202 after one of the trucks slowed down to make a left-hand turn onto Royal Street at around 4:30 p.m..

Justin Mason of Monmouth died at the scene while his passenger suffered life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the other pickup, a 41-year-old Leeds woman, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Monmouth police and Maine State Police are helping Winthrop police with the investigation and the local district attorney’s office has been notified.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the crash to call Winthrop PD at 207-377-7226.
