A man and a dog are dead after a head-on crash with a tractor-trailer in Newburgh on Wednesday.

Penobscot County deputies say a 2014 Porsche sedan crossed the centerline in a curve on Route 69 near Route 202 and crashed head-on with a 2015 Volvo tractor-trailer at about 11:55 am.

The man driving the car died at the scene, while a dog died while being taken to a veterinarian.

Deputies say that during the crash, the tractor-trailer left the roadway and hit a residential garage.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, identified as a man, was not injured.

The crash is under investigation by the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office while the Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit assisted with the commercial vehicle inspection.

Deputies say identities of the individuals involved will remain undisclosed for now.
