15th Annual Stuff the Bus for Preble Street

Join us for Rewind 100.9 ‘s 15th annual Stuff The Bus Food Drive for Preble Street, presented by Town & Country Federal Credit Union!

In the final hours, Chuck Igo has decided to come out of early retirement to help us raise money for Preble Street, by living in a Custom Coach & Limousine school bus for 28 hours!  From Monday, November 23rd @ 6am to Tuesday, November 2th @ 10am, join us on Rewind 100.9 as Chuck broadcasts live from a school bus in our parking lot, talking to Preble Street staff, Stuff The Bus sponsors, and other Maine notables about the importance of giving this Thanksgiving season! Help us exceed our goal of $20,000 for Preble Street by Thanksgiving!

In one day, Preble Street food programs will serve more than 2,700 meals to homeless and low-income adults and children right here in Southern Maine, three times the amount of just six months ago. With your help, we can make sure no Mainer goes hungry this Thanksgiving.

Click the link below to make a secure online donation to give Preble Street the buying power of 7 pounds of food for each dollar. All donations are for Food Programs which include both soup kitchens, mobile food services, and food pantry.

Because of the pandemic, the need for donations this year is HUGE.

  • Preble Street is currently feeding more people than ever before and is on track to provide over 1,000,000 meals this year (usually serve 620,000 meals/year).
  • Preble Street is preparing to distribute 1,000 food boxes during their Harvest Pantries this year, and they will need to purchase some of the food for the boxes (600+ turkeys, etc.), so every dollar matters more than ever! Preble Street is able to purchase food at a non-profit rate of $1 = 7 pounds of food, so your dollar will stretch more than buying retail.
  • Since March, Preble Street Food Programs has provided an average of 2,765 meals/day through a combination of the food pantry for households who are food insecure, two soup kitchens (Teen Center and Florence House), and Mobile Food Services to area shelters and people who are unsheltered in the city.
  • Through Preble Street Mobile Food Services, people in need no longer need to stand in long lines waiting for meals. They bring them food where they are at. Everyone staying at the YMCA and in shelters in Portland are able to get three meals a day, 365 days a year at their shelter. This includes Oxford Street Shelter, Milestone Shelter, the Expo Shelter, Florence House Shelter, and Preble Street Teen Services.

What can you do? This year is a little different. We won’t be taking any PHYSICAL donations, instead, we are asking you to donate online. Preble Street will take care of purchasing the food and delivering it to families. Children from local schools are also crafting Thanksgiving cards to include with each basket!

Rest easy knowing 100% of your pledge will help put food on your neighbor’s table. Click the link below to donate now.
